Musings over a Dreamcatcher

“There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure.”― Paulo Coelho

The wind gently tugs at the feathers,
As they dance to their own tune,
Twirling in graceful pirouettes,
I think what a lovely name is ‘Dreamcatcher’,
Meant to catch the good dreams and let the bad pass by,
Sending me peaceful images of a chaotic day,
I get lost as I watch the dreamcatcher’s ethereal dance,
Sometimes I feel it catches my thoughts,
Filtering negative ones which threaten to consume my mind,
Occasionally I send it dreams to keep safely,
Dreams I might see realized one day,
Or maybe never,
When we dare to dream,
It does not come with the promise of fulfillment,
Maybe we are fools to dream,
To give so much of ourselves to an imaginary creation of our mind,
To sign an evanescent contract with no guarantee of returns,
I suddenly feel helpless,
My dreams seem fragile,
With only the net of the dreamcatcher holding them together.

I realize I can strengthen them with faith,
That one day they just might come true,
And not invest all of myself in the outcome,
Should my dreams remain so,
As long as I have my dreamcatcher nearby,
If a dream seller should come by,
With a pocket full of dreams,
I would be willing to take my pick,
Fearlessly.
